Plot observation.
I realized something interesting about the story that tells us something about story writing:
Lee fortuitously knocks on the door with a pizza and is present for the training rehearsal and the exposing of Kyle and its fateful aftermath.
That's not just a detail to add more embarrassment for KG. Lee needs to see all that to understand the new duo that is formed, and their bond with each other, and their need to make themselves successful to survive.
It's one thing that he would be a fan of theirs if they played on the beach, but that incident was very lucky because it keeps JR "on the same page" with KG and JB, and not just that he was there for the "unmasking" of KG, but because so much story development took place in that scene.
Clever screenwriting IMO.
