is jack black mimic Meat loaf in this?
i think so
sharewut?
shareI'm sure he's drawn some inspiration from Meat Loaf but if he was mimicking the Loaf, he'd be singing more love ballads. Jables is a little closer to Dio thematically.
well he's spoofing the entire rock/heavy metal landscape of the 70s and 80s with this band. anyone who grew up either into that music or aware of it can probably recognize a lot of inspirations in his persona and the band's music.
but even if it was a direct riff on Meatloaf, i'm guessing he doesn't mind since he played his father. lol
"Spoofing?". I don't think they're spoofing. I think they are actually trying to make their mark in the music world.

They already have made their mark. They made it in large part by spoofing, but most importantly by doing so in great fricking songs. Understand now?
shareThey were perceived at the time of Tenacious D and the Pic of Destiny to be a spoof band. I see the movie as an attempt at a kind of Rock Opera about becoming "awesome", like AC/DC, Van Halen, etc., and that fact revealed their true intentions underneath.
These two guys really want to be thought of as a keeper-of-the-Faith Heavy Metal band, and not just rockumentary comedians, like Spinal Tap, whom I don't think have any concerns about how seriously they're taken in the music world. And Tenacious know that they must not act like they take themselves too seriously, hence the pseudo-spoofing. They're not coming from wherever Spinal were coming from. You need to read between the lines on all this.
