Getting a new Blu-ray release!!!!!

http://www.chud.com/142062/palisades-tartan-announces-the-black-blu-ra y-collection/

Hopefully it's a better transfer than the UK one, which they have admitted wasn't up to par. Either way, I'm excited we're finally getting a new Blu-ray!

Many thanks for the info. The UK blu-ray disc was quite disappointing (not much better than the upscaled dvd disc really)so I'll certainly purchase the palisades release, if only for the 'special features' which look very interesting.

The special features were already on the DVD but they're very good IMO.

I might need to recheck the original blu-ray's contents but I think the blu-ray disc had less 'special features' than its dvd counterpart. I don't think there is any 'commentary' tracks on the blu-ray disc for example.

Anyway, its a fantastic film and certainly in my top 20 of all time.

I hadn't really noticed a lack of quality on the UK BluRay, but that is probably down to having a 720p TV. I'm not at all sure what a 1080i image would look like, but 720p is lightyears better than SD.

I wonder if they will release the 'black' range in the UK as well. for when I eventually get a 1080i TV.

Yeah looks like they are planning a bunch of re-releases on bluray. Oldboy is the one up after this one.

Nothing amazing ever happens here.

Where did you hear about the Oldboy one? Is it a new transfer or just a rerelease of the preexisting one?

EDIT: Just found it. Kind of hesitant to get it again but we'll see...

Turns out it's basically the old release with new packaging. :/
