Strathmore is a recreation of Pratt Institute where the writer went to school, and Pratt, my friends, is a scary place. It resides in the slums of Brooklyn, and it is not wise to venture around surroundings of the campus at night.The few things that distinguish the campus apart from the rest of the slum are the sculptures between buildings, othewise its quite impossible to tell these seasoned factory looking buildings are still inhabitable and they produce the nations most gifted artists.

pratt is a scary place? have you not been there since the 80's?
as a recent graduate have to disagree a little bit....yes if you walk to myrtle and bed-sty and that area it is a bit shady and slumish...but if you walk the other direction towards dekalb and then walk down to fort green and bam and that area is really cute and not slum-like at all. For four years i never felt unsafe.

actually, i go to pratt now.. i'm a 22 year old female and really it's not scary unless you don't know where you're going. actually many parts of the area are very upscale, clean, beautiful and safe!!

I am a female who went to Pratt years ago...1972-1976!!! We were post hippie freaks, and it was rather safe. I didn't like being out alone after dark, but senior year I rented a 4th floor walkup and did get mugged. More a pain in the ass. You had to know how to walk/act. The movie is sooo true to life at Pratt!

that was a long time ago. it isn't like that now. the movie isn't true to life at all.
