Jarome really had no creativity or talent

The movie makes it seem like Jarome is a great unrecognized genius and everyone around him, especially the cops work was a joke.

In actuallity, in art school basically EVERYONE can draw and paint just exactly like Jarome does. Jarome has literally no creativity. Flower's self portrait, for example is pretty bad, but atleast it is actually interesting, even if it is derivative of many other artists. Jarome just has no creativity, so it makes sense no one likes his work, its dull like a glass of milk.

The cop, though his art was immature, atleast it stood out, was simple, and original. The cop sucks too but he was the best in that crappy class, and better than Jarome by far.

The worst part was every critique Jarome expected the teacher to say great things about his work when it was the most boring unoriginal drawing in the class.

Jarome sucks balls.

your an idiot and obviously know nothing about art.

im in a drawing class and the teachers care less about your creativity and more about your skill and attention to realism. Creativity is an important factor in art but not so much when drawing a self portrait.

open up your textbooks and turn to the chapter concerning your death.

I haven't watched the movie through in a while, so I'm not entirely sure if what I remember is true, but..

The movie does not , I think, "make it seem like Jarome is a great unrecognised genius", like you say. It does in fact show that he lacks creativity and doesn't at all glorify him. However he does have talent and skill, but that is not enough to make it through in the art world. Millions of people can draw.

I actually liked Flower's portrait, and did think that Jarome's work was rather boring and ineffective. It was skillful, yes, but did not show his personality.

I thought they were saying all art is subject and that most artist are pretentious and suck. Jerome seemed like normal guy to me who painted normal things. That's all.

The only reason people liked any of his work at the end was because he was in prison and it made a good story. The movie never suggests hes talented, quite the opposite actually.

Here's the deal: in theory, you have to have form, skill and talent and develop those abilities before you can experiment. Jerome already could draw and draw well, so the issue was if he could stand out. Which he did eventually, but by taking credit for someone else's work.

Whereas a lot of people in that class were experimenting because they couldn't do better.

You look like a heavy metal leprechaun! HAHAHAHAHAH
