He didn't give the diamonds back to the prisoner but I can't remember who received them. The mummified body had a key in his stomach. The mumified guy swallowed the key in front of prisoner at the scene of the crime before he/mummified guy was killed. The prisoner guy shot him. The key opened a safe deposit box that had the diamonds inside of it. Both men stole the diamonds. Does that make sense?

I believe that was a picture of the diamonds, which are now in the hands of NCIS, the guy in prison? I need to watch that episode again, some things were not right,

French Stewart sure aged a lot, I didn't even recognize him. Last season they had Bronson Pinchot from Perfect Strangers playing an imprisoned serial killer, he hasn't aged as much.
