Really? How should he have played it?
I think Vince Vaughn just basically plays the same role in many of his movies - a low-key, underachieving kind of Joe Average. (When he's not playing lunatics.) There were so many oddball characters in the movie that there needed to be a straight man, and I saw Peter as filling that role.
