Too contrived (spoilers)

(spoilers)

Mi-do hyptonized to forget her whole life. Seriously?

I watched the movie a couple of times over the past years, and when the plot comes out it's always a disappointment.

Mi-do doesn't remember she is Dae-su's daughter? When her father disappeared, she was old enough to remember. She was adopted by a Swedish couple, but also couldn't remember that. She was secretly raised by Lee Woo-jin (I don't think the film explains exactly in what way) but couldn't remember any of that?

Obviously the explanation of it all is that she was hypnotized, but that seems highly implausible and unrealistic even for a movie.

Every aspect of the movie seems over the top (not in a bad way). The phantom pregnancy was already contrived enough, but asking me to believe Mi-do's past was magically rewritten kind of ruins it for me.
