Full Moon Pictures and Charles Band are bringing their deliciously murderous cookie monster to life once more in GINGERDEAD MAN 3: SATURDAY NIGHT CLEAVER. Written by William Butler, who scripted GINGERDEAD MAN 2: THE PASSION OF THE CRUST (pictured), the third installment finds the title fiend traveling back in time to the 1970s, where he murders the contestants in a roller-disco contest. "I'm looking forward to seeing what trouble that little bastard can get himself into in a 1970s situation," Butler tells us. "Once you crucify a hand puppet, you pretty much are left wide open to go in a variety of directions."
A friend of Band's for years, Butler got his start as an actor in the producer's GHOULIES II and ARENA, among others. When GINGERDEAD MAN 2 became the first Full Moon film to sell out on Amazon.com, Band turned to his pal to concoct the third in the franchise. "Charlie wrote us a check and basically let us go," Butler recalls. "He was a great sport and let us roast him and the genre." He adds that fans of the franchise can expect a good deal of wacky fun and guts. "Seriously, just more laughs and lots more gore," he says. "I figure that since many of the Full Moon films go unrated these days, we should push the envelope and go even further."
Although no cast has been set, Butler promises that Fango will be the first to know. "I would like to put offers out to Meryl Streep and Robert De Niro, with Tom Cruise as the voice of the Gingerdead Man," he jokes. Just like flesh-and-blood cinematic serial killers, this baked villain just doesn't seem to die-so can viewers expect a fourth helping? "As long as there is foam latex and bad taste, the Gingerdead Man will live on," Butler promises. "Perhaps we can send him to space or marry him off in BRIDE OF G-MAN?" Band is offering executive-producer credit on GINGERDEAD MAN 3 to anyone who purchases $120 worth of mechandise at his Full Moon Direct website for eight days beginning this Friday, August 22. -Jessica Leibe
