a little bit nicer then the original

I won’t deny I’m not much of a fan of Star Trek, so the only reason I rented the trekkie movies is to have a good laugh.

With the original Trekkies, I definitely got that, but w/ this sequel, it actually showed a better, more fully rounded group of trekkies. I actually got to see people who where willing to take things a little more lightly then the people that where shown in the original. I still got a few good laughs in it, but not just AT the fans, a few times I actually laughed w/ them.

Then again, Barbara Adams, made me laugh more then before, I honestly wonder if she's one of those people that the lesbians where joking about who only wanted to be called by their rank & names and had trouble telling the difference of reality vs. fiction.

Plus... I got to throw this one in; she got offended when someone questioned her use of the uniform in the courtroom. Barbara Adams said something along the lines of "How is wearing my federation uniform any different then wearing a Military uniform" I got a little annoyed w/ this one, mostly because no one was able to answer her. Well... here's the answer: A US military uniform is REAL, not just something that was made up in the costume dept. of a Hollywood studio. You might fully respect what the idealism of the uniform portrays, but it doesn’t make it any more real than a costume for a TV show.

These days, I have more respect for what a Starfleet uniform represents than what a US military uniform represents. Sad, but true.

it doesnt change the fact that one is real the other is fiction

Well, the military argument is flawed anyway. Both of my parents are retired from the navy. Niether of them would wear their uniform to jury duty. I don't think that many others would, either. You rarely see active duty people wearing their uniform outside of work unless 1. they just finished training and don't have any other clothes yet. or 2. they are at a place where they can get discounts for wearing their uniform. such as a theme park.

plus, the usually find the attention it gains slightly annoying (ref: my brother in laws who were in the army)

Or, another way to put it is: Getting a US millitary uniform requires intense training. Anyone can slap on a costume and put a badge on it and claim that they have some sort of fabricated "rank". It doesn't even compare in any way to someone who wears a milliary uniform that they have actually *earned* through hard work.

exactly

but I remember at one point she does mention that they gain their ranks thru the type & volume of charity work they do (or some BS along those lines)
