SECRET WINDOW is never suspenseful because the image looks too clear. It didn't have to be filmed with a blue filter, but the visuals should've matched the atmosphere that writer/director David Koepp was trying to create. Adding humour to this kind of movies is OK too, as in a lot of Stephen King adaptations, but it depends of the type of humour. MORT RAINEY (the protagonist) was written as someone so quirky that he also kills a lot of the suspense. He's an author who's looking for the best ending for his new novel. Isn't it ironic? Don't you think? It's like rain--Sorry, where was I? Oh, right. By 2004, the "a main character has multiple personalities" twist endings had already been used, but not to death. The problem is that it creates plot holes. I'm not a psychologist so maybe I'm wrong about this, but... how did MORT realize that he had multiple personalities on his own? Usually, people who suffer it have to be told by someone else, right? MORT made up all those things because he didn't want to admit he had another personality who wanted to kill his ex-wife. Then why did SHOOTER cover things up? I mean, why kill the neighbor and the lawyer? Because the neighbor was about to say that he was alone? And the lawyer would think he made it all up? Then SHOOTER (controlling the body) could've made up a lie. Why tear off the pages of the book that contained the short story? If MORT had taken them, he would've find out sooner that SHOOTER didn’t exist. Why kill the dog? Actually, I can't come up with an explanation. It would've made more sense if he had killed the cleaning lady.

No tenía que ser filmada con un filtro azul, pero el aspecto visual debería haber encajado con la atmósfera que el guionista/director David Koepp estaba tratando de crear. Añadir humor a este tipo de películas también está bien, como en muchas de las adaptaciones de Stephen King, pero depende del tipo de humor. MORT RAINEY (el protagonista) fue escrito como alguien tan excentrico que él también mata gran parte del suspenso. Él es un autor que está buscando el mejor final para su novela nueva. ¿No es irónico? ¿No lo creen? Es como la lluvia--Perdón, ¿en qué estaba? Ah, sí. Para el 2004, los finales sorpresa de «un personaje principal tiene personalidad múltiple» ya se habían usado, pero no hasta el cansancio. El problema es que crea hoyos en la trama. No soy sicólogo así que tal vez me equivoco en esto, pero... ¿cómo MORT se dio cuenta que tenía personalidad múltiple por sí solo? Normalmente, a las personas que sufren de eso se lo tiene que decir alguien más, ¿cierto? MORT inventó todas esas cosas porque no quería admitir que tenía otra personalidad que quería matar a su ex-esposa. ¿Entonces por qué SHOOTER cubrió todo? O sea, ¿por qué matar al vecino y al abogado? ¿Porque el vecino iba a decir que él estaba solo? ¿Y el abogado pensaría que él inventó todo? Entonces SHOOTER (controlando el cuerpo) pudo haber inventado una mentira. ¿Por qué sacar las páginas del libro que contenían la historia corta? Si MORT las hubiera tomado, hubiera descubrido antes que SHOOTER no existía. ¿Por qué matar al perro? De hecho, no se me ocurre una explicación. Hubiera tenido más sentido si él hubiera matado a la señora de la limpieza.
