Humble brag

I don't remember which girl it was, but when Stacy McKenzie was telling her story they showed a confessional of one girl talking about how she really connected with the story because she was used to people telling her she was 'too short and too sexy' to be a model...

I'm sorry. I get that being told you can't do something you want to do would be really frustrating and depressing, but you are not going to tell me that being told that you are 'too sexy' is in the same universe as being told to your face that you are 'hideous'. GTFO with that nonsense.

LOL I THOUGHT THE SAME DAMN THING!! I hate when people complain about being told they're too skinny and say 'I understand how fat people feel when they get told they're too fat!!' It's not the same thing AT ALL.

reply

I disagree about that! I am speaking from experience! When I was skinny people used to talk so badly about me and thought that it was okay to do so. I would ask them if I was plus size would they still do it and they said no. Body shaming is the same thing whether you are plus size or skinny. You shouldn't do it!

Imagine being told as a teenager that you look anorexic, being told by boys that you like that you have a pretty face but the body of a boy, while you try to eat as much as you can but just can't seem to gain any weight. For some reason, if you're skinny, people think it's okay to say anything they want. Years later I am happy to say that I am at a healthy weight and have got those feminine forms I wanted so badly, just by getting older. Still, when I think back to all the negative remarks that have been made about my body, it hurts almost as bad as it did back then.

Thank you for backing me up! Like I said above, talking about a skinny person is the same as talking about a plus size person. Only thing is that people don't think that it's acceptable to talk about plus while it's okay to talk about skinny people. Neither is okay.

I don't know why somebody would deem this kind of comment as something offensive, given that model-wannabes getting this kind of critique all the time. Being considered as too sexy is a legit reason why a model is shunned by so-called high fashion modeling industry, which could limit work choices for any model.

If you see runways, magazines, there always seems to have certain types of models the industry favors. They're unique but not necessarily the fairest. Models outside of this box are too sexy, too tall, too skiny, too fat etc, so they can only work for certain types of products like underwear, swimsuit, catelog or modeling with only showing their body parts. As stunnung as Tyra is, even herself isn't considered as a typical high fashion model.

I completely agree with the OP.

I've actually seen Krislian's work and she ALWAYS plays the sexy, seductive girl in music videos that is trying to get laid by the singer. Check her out in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UI9WCl4Cd8E

If she is "too sexy" it's because she MAKES herself too sexy. She does this to herself.

My thoughts exactly!
