Tiffany Richardson (cycle 4) gives exclusive, in depth interview on ANTM

Has anybody read this?? It was published only a couple days ago on Buzzfeed. I think it's pretty fascinating. Tiffany gave a pretty honest interview about what happened behind the scenes during both Cycle 3 and Cycle 4. She gave details about casting, how she lied about going to anger management (but the producers didn't care about that, anyway), and how she thought Tyra went extremely over the top during her elimination. And she said that Tyra came to visit her at her hotel room a few days after her elimination. And she talks about what she's been up to since her ANTM days. She seems to not have really liked her ANTM experience and she doesn't seem to like Tyra all that much lol. But this article also interviewed some of the show's producers and crew members, as well as Nigel Barker and Nole Marin, and they all talked about what went down during Tiffany's elimination. I think it was a fun read:

I sided with Tiffany. Tyra wanted the attention. And Tiffany did nothing wrong. I think her attitude in leaving was fine. Tyra's ego was hurt because Tiffany didn't make a bigger deal out of it.

I knew somebody that knew one of Tiffany's cousins and the cousin said that they thought that Tyra only did it for ratings not to help Tiffany. I do think that Tiffany needed to hear what Tyra said, however, it should have been done in private. Not only did she do it in front of the other girls and judges she did it in front of millions of viewers. That wasn't necessary. I think about 1 or 2 years after that happened she gave an interview and she said that she spoke to her grandmother and her grandmother said that if Tyra really cared about her she wouldn't have spoken to her like that and that she was full of sh**. Also Tiffany said that she didn't care for Janice and that there was no way that Janice was rooting for her. When I first watched cycle 4 I thought that it was boring, but I read some backstage stories and it was a lot more interesting than what they showed.

I don't care what anybody says Tyra did not pick Tiffany because she saw something in her. She picked her because she was her Cinderella story. Same thing as Angelea. If Tiffany would have played her cards right she would have had Keenyah's spot. There have been several contestants that have said that Tyra doesn't seem to care about them. It's just for TV.

That was really informative. I'm glad that Tiffany has finally forged a good life for herself!

Yes, I think Tyra purposely picked on Tiffany for TV purpose. She did the same for Kelly in C3.

I too think Tiffany was the Cinderella story narrative of Cycle 4. Like I imagine Angelea (Cycle 17) was in the original edit.

It seems in ANTM history Tyra really doesn't like when contestants seem to give up or don't seem to care.
With the beginning of Tyra's rant, I think it did seem uncalled for for her to get personal and mention the anger management and Tiffany's Gran holding back the electricity to pay for her swimsuit, in front of everyone in the room and I agree something like that could've been said in private with Tiffany.

I've also heard before that the rant went on longer than we saw but I don't know what else was really said.

I thought it's interesting in the Cycle 4 recap episode you see a little bit of Tiffany seeming to argue back and saying something like "Every week you tell me I have a bad attitude..." which looks like what really pushes Tyra over the edge.

According to the interview, Tyra also said to Tiffany in the rant, "Go home and sleep on a mattress on the floor with your baby!"

Funny, I thought the same except my example is Eva in Cycle 3 (who ended up winning) and part of my guess as to why Tiffany wasn't cast in cycle 3 to begin with.

I think what it boils down to, is the fact that this was early in the life of top model, when Tyra still believed that the show was legit - that it was going to be a real life-changer for the winner, and was going to shake up the fashion industry. And the fact that someone didn't treat it that way just didn't compute with her.

You can see how much more serious and dramatic Tyra was in the earlier cycles, when she thought Top model was the real deal. It wasn't until later cycles, that she began to fully embrace it for the reality show for entertainment, that it was.

This was a good interview.

I somewhat disagree with this because from even cycle 1, I think that she saw this as a gold mine for reality TV. She saw SOME contestants that would have life changing and take the industry by storm, but others she knew would make for good TV. Let's take Adrienne and Robin for instance. Adrienne was my pick to win from the very 1st episode, but if you go back and watch one would say Elyse or Shannon should have been the winners. Adrienne had a much more interesting back story. Also Robin her age, her religion, her weight. I should have played the drinking game every time Janice said something about her age & weight. Robin while Tyra might have wanted to make an example, of Robin, because she was a plus size model she saw her as reality TV gold. From the earlier seasons, there are about 1 or 2 contestants that you can pick out that you knew were there for TV reasons only. Actually cycle 3 has several of them. Do you really think that they picked Kelle because they saw the potential in her? Jay Manuel you can tell didn't like her. Janice wasn't too nice on her either.
