Annoyed by the music videos

When I first started watching this season I felt like it was going back to it's roots. All the girls looked very modelesque and the photo-shoots seemed current and fashionable. But then a music video came up and I was going to let it slide, but then a SECOND music video happened and I'm just really confused.

This is a modeling competition. I can understand trying to make the girls more well rounded by having them do acting challenges/commercials like in pervious cycles. But learning choreography for a music video just doesn't make sense to me.

Yes, dancing can be useful in photo-shoots/commercials to help find a killer pose or to look more graceful, but to force these girls to learn choreography for 2 separate music videos seems excessive.

They kept saying "it's not about getting the moves right, it's about showing your personality" but the girls who were all in the bottom was because they couldn't get the moves down. It also doesn't seem fair to do this to some of to contestants who are blatantly uncomfortable with this kind of thing, like Kyle. Or Courtney who literally has a pole in her back.

I can understand Marissa's frustration, although I do think she flat out gave up and that's why she was eliminated.

couldnt agree more. I loathe the music videos every season since they began the trend. I agree that some of the models should try to be more well rounded too but forcing them to be something they are not,(as they did with trying to make Kyle feminine by putting her in that horrible ugly yellow dress for the video)is a bit too much. They are the ones constantly going on about a "Brand"...well her brand was clearly a masculine/androgynous one...they should have been styling her accordingly. I dont know..I just felt like she was at a disadvantage because of that.

reply

That is not a disadvantage, omg. ,πŸ˜‚

Every girl had to wear things they don't normally wear. Nobody had it easier than anyone else. You don't go on that show, and expect them to the tailor the styling tobyour personal style. The models know what they sign up for. Music vids have been a thing on this show. Enough of the excuses.

There really was no point in having Kyle for androgynous reasons since they treated her look the same as all the other girls. I really don't think Courtney was that bad compared to some of the others. India was good but the rest were pretty similar to each other.

Those who don't believe in magic will never find it -RD

exactly. I totally get that a model should have some diversity but jeeeez...obviously Kyle has a distinctive "brand" that she fits into. I mean they dont have to accomodate the girls at every shoot but I think they should maybe take that into consideration...if they had dressed her up more masculine hip/hop for that video I think she would have done well actually. Like you said, theres not much point bringing her into the competition even....It was frankly just kind of uncomfortable to watch.

reply

I think the music videos are not always needed.

reply

ya...I usually struggle through the episode every season that features one. But like OP said, two was a bit excessive. I liked it when the dancing or acting was just in challenges. For me, it should be a photo that is judged at the end of every episode...I just find the music videos so repetitive and boring. Its typically always some sort of pop music, with the same generic sexualized dancing and lo it behold a model usually drops from dehydration because they arent used to exerting themselves... πŸ˜’

I like the acting challenges much better. Remember how amusing the Japanese Campbells Soup commercial was? πŸ˜€

reply

I LOVED that soup commercial lol.

This music video *beep* is getting ridiculous. Never should they have brought a model back based on a damn music video.
