I've been rewatching cycle 5 the last couple days. Bre is so adorable I just wanna pinch her cheeks. I haven't seen this cycle since it first aired and I'm totally loving Nik this time around. I don't remember really paying much attention to her last time, but now I think have a girl crush on her lol. I also didn't remember Jayla being so damn annoying. And Lisa...omg I can't believe I forgot about her peeing in the diaper!
sharePeeing in the diaper was pretty gross when I think about it now. I do think Lisa had her own issues going on, but there was something I liked about her too as I think as Tyra said in her audition she really showed her heart. I also think her elimination was bull as she was one of the front runners that cycle, and one of the earlier bull eliminations I remember in ANTM.
Nik when I remember back always doing well I don't know she didn't win.
I think I found Jayla somewhat annoying. I think even she didn't know why she made it so far though.
That's why I was one of the ones that was never mad about Lisa winning cycle 17. I thought that it made up for her elimination for cycle 5. Peeing in the diaper, she just wanted attention. I found Lisa to be annoying(especially towards Coryn), but she was a good model. She should have had Bre's spot. I wanted Nik to win, but I must be one of the few that didn't mind Nicole winning. I knew that she was going to 1/2 way through the cycle. I didn't even bother to watch the last episode because I knew. The beginning, of this cycle, was boring because I felt that they focused too much on Kim, Sarah, and Lisa. I think the whole Kim and Sarah thing was boring and don't understand why it got so much air time. I would have liked to have seen more of Diane because she was one of my favorites, but she didn't get that much air time until the episode where she was eliminated.
shareI never cared for Nicole. I remember I was so upset when she won. I didn't hate her or anything but I did find her quite whiny and annoying.
I liked Lisa at times but I think it was more that I felt bad for her because she obviously had some demons she was dealing with. She took great pictures but I found her to look very old in them.
I think Nik was not only a great model but a great person. I like that she stayed out of all the drama. Nik was my favorite as a model but Bre was actually my favorite as a person. She did act immature with the whole energy drink thing but overall she seemed like a really good person and she spoke with the wisdom of someone much older.
I also had to root for Kyle because she only lived a couple hours from me. :P
I still can't believe Nicole won.. She never really took an awful picture per say, since she looked the most modelequse. I never felt like she pushed that hard, she's the total definition of relying on one look, and she was obnoxiously annoying, I would have snapped on her way before Bre did. Nik, Lisa and Bre would have been an exceptional final 3.
shareI remember Tyra saying in Cycle 5 they were looking for a more "high fashion" model which is why Nicole won, but I agree she didn't have any bad pictures, but also wasn't really trying that hard. It just seemed unfair because some girls are more high fashion and some are more commercial but if you are mainly looking for one type, then they shouldn't have even cast more commercial girls since they really had no chance.

Cycle 5 was a fun cycle, but it had a strange elimination order and a really strange choice in the winner, IMO.
I recently rematched this cycle as well, and here are some of my opinions:
Nicole- she was stunning but I was shocked she ended up being the winner. She definitely looks like a supermodel but as far as pictures go, she was ALWAYS middle or even bottom of the pack for me. She never tried that hard, rested on being pretty, and was super whiny and annoying. She did give some good moments, like when she was hilariously attacked by pigeons and started screaming and crying. But I think she had a pretty poor work ethic and I found her to be pretty immature. Stunning girl though, but she was never a front runner to me. Lisa, Nik, Kyle, Cassandra, and Bre all took WAY better pictures than her, IMO. The only ones I truly liked of Nicole's were her Country Couture and her final CG ad. All the others were just blah to me.
Nik- she was a great model and probably took the best pictures out of everyone, but I can totally see why they didn't pick her as a winner. She was so dull and didn't have much of a personality, and I think that's why she failed at her first commercial (the deodorant commercial). I think she only got first call out for her CG commercial because Bre was sup par and Nicole flat out bombed hers.
Bre- I've always really liked her, even though she acted so catty in the infamous "Granola-gate" or "Red-Bull-Gate", whatever it's known as. I thought she consistently took good pictures, despite the judges saying she started out awful.
Jayla- I liked her better with longer hair. Her short hair is the epitome of soccer mom/"can I speak to a manager" haircut. And her photos were pretty average. I don't understand how she made the top 4. I would have brought Kyle overseas rather than her. Also, I thought she was pretty nasty to a lot of the girls. She talked behind everyone's backs and it's funny how she got so upset with Kim for gossiping about her when she did the exact same thing to everyone else. I thought she was a sneaky little weasel in the sense that she DID steal Nik's secret (a juvenile fight, but Nik DID have a point...) and she gave Bre a Benadryl right before her photoshoot. I mean, really?? And she went full on psychotic when she and Nik got into a fight. Ugh I really did not like her. I found her to be quite unpleasant.
Kim- I liked her personality and thought she was stunning, but I thought her photos were all around pretty terrible, with the exception of 1 or 2. In any other season, I don't think she would have went overseas. Her photos were so bland and she always had a blank face in her photos.
Lisa- such a BS elimination. Deserved to be top 3. I did find her annoying and over the top, but she could freakin work it in front of the camera.
Kyle- one of the strongest models this season, IMO. Deserved to go overseas, more so than Kim and Jayla.
Coryn, Diane, Sarah, Ebony, Ashley- yawn
Cassandra- this girl was freakin' stunning. I know she infamously went down as the one who quit because she didn't want her haircut, but man was she beautiful. Took great pictures in the short time she was there. If she had stayed and committed herself to the competition, I think she would have sailed into the top 3.
So yeah. Fun cycle for me, definitely one of the better ones as far as entertainment. But I think most of the girls were pretty mediocre models. The only truly great models this cycle for me were Nik, Lisa, Bre, and Cassandra. Maybe Kyle but she was a little too inconsistent. But other than that- meh.
I honestly think had Cassandra stayed she would have turned into a Jadea, a girl who looks stunning, but let's her hair get to her, there's no way she would have ever became comfortable with it, especially if they cut it shorter.
