Hopes for Cycle 24?

Just wondering what everyone's hopes and predictions for Cycle 24 are?

I think they're already casting for Cycle 24.

A part of me wonders if it'll be similar to when Cycle 19 had all the new judges but by Cycle 21 Ms J was back and Rob, Johnny and BryanBoy had gone. It could well be exactly the same but I get the impression the general consensus is the judging panel isn't so popular with viewers, though I understand the need to revamp the show.

I think with the ANTM Twitter page was asking fans if they wanted male contestants back, so I imagine that could be a possibility. Though I'm sort of liking ANTM being back to basics at the moment.

A part of me wouldn't be surprised if Rita isn't back for Cycle 24.
Not implying she'd be fired, but looking at her reality talent show history, I think on both The X Factor and The Voice UK she only stayed one season, and I could see her wanting to focus more on her music perhaps.
Someone said online they felt Rita was just a stop point for Tyra's comeback.
I'm not sure if Tyra would come back as the host again, but I'd welcome it.

Some have also said Tyra and the producers wanted Ashley as the host, but VH1 wanted Rita.

They won't be bringing back guys, seeing as though that's the reason the show was cancelled. The coed cycles were some of the lowest rated, and were blamed for the decline in viewership. Plus, people just aren't that interested in seeing the guys compete

Most fans don't want guys back.

Ashley would be an excellent host!

They should get Chanel Iman, Cindy Crawford, Erin Wasson, Crystal Renn, or Devon Aoki to replace Rita.

Was the co-ed cycles really the reason ANTM was cancelled?

I'd imagine the male inclusion and the show seeming less about modelling but more social media and who was hooking up didn't help ratings or loyal viewership. But I was under the impression constantly changing the scheduling and minimal promotion harmed the show as well.

reply

No, people didn't react well to the mix. It also brought about more drama, and less emphasis on actual modeling.

More viewed were opposed, and by the end, most people rightfully agreed it should have been canceled.

Thus why this season is already more well received than the past few.

The schedule changes were never the issue.

Also, had the coed theme been more successful, they likely would've continued it into it's new reinvention.

I watched from the beginning and personally stopped watching during the male cycles.

GOD I hope they don't bring Rita back, she's the least inspiring host of an NTM franchise I've ever seen, her RitAlerts are actually painful to watch.

I can see why Tyra wanted Ashley to be the host, she's got WAY more character, experience, and feels a lot more like a mentor to the girls than Rita. I never really got the feeling that Rita was invested in this show, let alone any of the girls.

I'm sure VH1 wanted someone "young and fresh" to replace Tyra and Ashley would have been too similar to Tyra, but at least she shows a little bit of care.

They'd better not bring guys back, if they want guys just do a whole separate show for it and see how the ratings are, but trying to cater to both guys and girls just made both genders suffer in their modelling growth.

Was it official Tyra wanted Ashley as the host?

I kind of thought with Cycle 23 being a complete revamp, ANTM was better remembered with viewers for being a female competition.
I could see how the inclusion of male contestants possibly damaged the show more, but I still wouldn't surprised if they have male contestants again. Though I do think it's nice seeing an all female cycle again.

I really didn't like the idea of males being on ANTM initially. I kind of got used to it by Cycle 22, but did sort of think if they were going to have male contestants it should be on a similar show or spin-off.
But I think I enjoyed Cycle 22 the most out of Cycles 19-22.

I think I'm more surprised there hasn't been an all plus-size cycle.

Considering the inclusion of males accounted for decline in ratings( like I've said a million times ), it's not likely to see guys again.

reply

I am rather surprised that there hasn't been an all male cycle yet.
