Can someone please explain to me:
1) Why his parents were killed?
2) Why he was outside helping partisans during their deaths - I thought he had a fever?
3) How on earth he just happened to be near the Nazi High Command as the opportunity came to cross over Russian lines?
4) What happened with him and Traudl? Are we supposed to believe she raised him?
His father was killed because he was considered a coward for not fighting (with the Volkssturm) against the Russians. His mother was likely killed for objecting and/or for "causing a nuisance". The people he helped were not partisans, they were simply like his father. Older civilians who didn't want to throw away their lives.
The reason he was around the bunker is because that's where the action took place at that specific time and place. The Volkssturm and the Hitlerjugend were hastily put into action where they were needed. We're also not sure if the general public were aware of the Fuhrerbunker, or at least the complexety of it.
As for him having fever.. I doubt he cared much due to his apparent patriotism.
