I don`t know if this fits your category but I like film called Živi i mrtvi (Alive and dead in Croatian). One story in film follows Croatian defence council soldier (Army of Bosnia and Herzegovinan Croats in Yugo wars) in 1993 central Bosnia during the Croatian - Muslim conflict. Other story follows his grandfather, in 1943 also central Bosnia, member of the Croatian homeguard (regular army of Independent state of Croatia - Nazi puppet state). He and his fellow homeguard soldiers (both Catholics and Muslims) fight against partisan communists and are led by two Ustasha (Croatian nazis from WW2, one catholic other Muslim). ISC goverment was installed by Germans and Italians therefore Axis. So half of the films story is seen through their eyes and they are not presented as bad guys (except for Ustasha catholic officer he is shown to be ruthless man, while muslim one seems to be man of honor). Homeguard soldiers are presented as forcibly recruited normal guys who just want to survive the war. One the other hand some Croatian soldiers from 1993 storyline are actually eager for a fight. I don`t know if English subtitles exist for the movie but if you do find them, you should know the movie is based on a novel and directors subtle intentions. Muslims from WW2 speak Croatian exclusive dialect but their grandsons fight against catholic Croats in 1990`s. He also made Assault on percint 13 style movie called number 55 based on real event from Croatian war of independence which shows Yugoslav people army and local Serbs attacked us and we had to defend ourselves. So this first movie is actually anti war film.
