The Ending... (SPOILERS)

I really liked the movie and all but, the ending, all the characters dying... I don't know, It just doesn't convince me. Like if something was missing...

''Are you gonna bark al day, little doggie, or are you gonna bite?''

All the characters dying... Well, what's wrong? As stated by David Walsh, life is an illusion. Here you are.

The ending was good. No one won. I thought that was hilarious.

Actually, Wendy won-which sucked. I liked the movie until the ending because Steve Zahn's character was hilarious until Dillon shot him. Then Dillion's lover kills him, which really spoils the movie.

"Slip through our fingers? My God what are you, his executioner?"

watch all movies through their credits

i thought this ending was hysterical! lol, this was one of the most fun movies i've watched in a while. the second wendy came back in, i started laughing, and didn't stop until the credits. so great! ... and dave foley dying was wicked funny too.

The bus driver probably pocketed the loot at the end..

one thing i'm trying to understand, how did having a relationship with christina applegate fit into the bankrobbing scheme?

reply

who are we talking about here? because a couple of people had a relationship with christina applegate...

We should show them who the real losers are.
Them. Them are the real losers.

reply

ow right, i was talking about the relationship between her and matt dillon.

I personally thought the ending ruined the movie. if they ended it with him getting grabbed and driven away in the van it could have ended with him doing a voice over or something, ending the movie without the "plot twists" and *beep* that were honestly a bad move. The ending took away from the rest of the movie

reply

I really liked it until the ending. I thought it was almost as bad as the "it was all a dream" ending. Dillon's character changed, Zahn's character changed, and because of it, you dont know who to root for. Also, you have to see her getting hit by a bus coming a mile away. It was foreshadowed pretty clearly that someone would.

Also the twist after twist after twist thing was so contrived.
Totally ruined an otherwise good movie

reply

actually perhaps one of my fav endings, though it was predictible, it was fantastic

reply

Presonally, I would have rather it ended with David killing all the bank robbers. Though that might be a little to much like the ending of Taxi Driver.

reply

I didn't like everyone dying at the end either, this was the first time I saw Steve Zahn's character die as well. I thought the movie was great, it had a lot of funny parts... and I too was mad that Wendy ended up winning so to speak... I have it here and will watch it again soon.

My Green Mile Man Brutal, (David Morse), I love 'that thing you do'!!

...or Hostage....or Kill Bill...or any Bond movie....Pretty much any movie that defies impossible odds by having the main character kill everyone.

The ending was a nice change, everyone got what they deserved.

But I thought after the two women got hit, that either they would walk out alive, or the driver of the other vehicle would end up being the main one who screwed everyone over.

All in all, very enjoyable movie. I can't decidde which one I like better, this one or Wild Things.

reply

Yes, I thought the ending was a cheat on the spectator. It was like "Ha ha, sucker, sure you did not see this coming ?" Of course not, because it was impossible to !!! Great movies like "Usual suspects" or "Dédales" gives you a few clues that can get you to the twist ; if you don't, then you applaude. But if you don't have enough elements and the whole thing is protracted, it's not class. It's plain cheating. too bad because this movie is quite enjoyable.

I would have been happiest with it ending with Dillon killing the bank robbers, then dying. That was the absolute peak for me. I would have settled for the other twists until Zahn died.
The whole lesbian thing should have been a funny, post-credits joke.
