The guy in the portrait?
Passed this over several times on the Fios movie listings before I realized it wasn't the 2007 one. Yeah, it ultimately breaks down writing- and plot-wise, but there was definite potential there; the cast and set-up were intriguing, and don't get me started on how great the makeup was (that's for another thread).
But there was something about the bank founder's portrait (the big oil painting behind the bank president's desk that Matt Dillon/David Walsh comments on, then later urinates on) that made us do a quick rewind. The guy looked so post-modern and realistic that we assumed he'd show up later as a character. We just couldn't place the actor.
But, of course, he never did show up, and we never did place the actor.
And here's where it gets weird...A couple of hours after watching the movie I was doing some completely unrelated online research and stumbled on a dead-ringer black and white photo of the guy in the portrait:

A little more digging showed that, not only was the real guy a Second City fixture/icon (and this movie's writer/director Mitch Rouse was a Second City alum), but he was also mentioned in the Thanks section of the credits.
In other words, the portrait in the movie appears to be a pretty clear tribute to this guy Del Close, yet it's not mentioned in the Trivia/Fun Facts or anywhere on this message board.
My question is, has anyone else noticed this, or am I completely delusional?
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
