I thought the premise was pretty remarkable - shocking how original it was - although Matheson is quite the writer - his classic TZs are up there. Extending the short story to a movie - there is plenty of (prolonged) WTF? in there. They could easily have savaged 20 minutes out of it - and still kept the enlarged core of the story.

Keeping it to a shorter story is better - 90min and change - rather than almost 2 hours.

Yeah I thought this film was really original and pretty much awesome. Richard Kelly's SciFi concepts are so fresh and interesting. You have to pay attention you can tell pieces of scenes were edited out I wish they gave Kelly final cut. Damm I wish he wouldn't have chose to make the third part of Southland tales without bothering at least to let ppl know thers more to the story, when you read the first two graphic novels then watch ST, its epic. Only other kinda newer original directors like Kelly I can think of are Shane carruth and blomkamp. Hope the industry doesn't do the same to carruth as they did to Kelly & I hope Neill blomkamp gets back to his roots , forget alien 10 its been done. Sorry I got off the topic off the box it was really a sick movie.
