1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) 2. The Box (2009) 3. Southland Tales (2007) 4. Donnie Darko (2001) 5. Amélie (2001) 6. Synecdoche, New York (2008) 7. Knocked Up (2007) 8. Where the Wild Things Are (2009) 9. Mulholland Dr. (2001) 10. Spirited Away (2001)
I would take a couple of movies away from here, but that is a good list. I like how the people who disagree don't post their movies. Which I guess would be The Dark Knight and other craptastical movies.
1. Synecdoche, New York 2. Watchmen 3. Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind 4. Southland Tales 5. The Diving Bell And The Butterfly 6. Inglourious Basterds 7. The Wrestler 8. Mulholland Dr. 9. A Scanner Darkly 10. Departures
"We're going to take the ATM machine with us to Mexico."
- A Prophet - The Panist - The Ghost Writer - Triangle - 36 Quai des Orfèvres - Before the Devil Knows You're Dead - Eastern Promises - A History of Violence - Bug - Ray - The Good Sheperd - The Others - Thank You for Smoking - The Departed - Inglorious Basterds - Gladiator - King Kong - Sin City - Man on Fire - The Jacket
And if it wasn't 2000-2010 decade but 2006-2016, i would have added recent stuff such as Interstellar, The Revenant and/or Mad Max: Fury Road.

RE: the OP, those are all good movies, so i wouldn't call the list "bad". but, really? you think of all the movies produced in the last ten years, three of the top 10 are richard kelly & two of them are charlie kaufman penned? I dunno about that. now, i don't think i'm capable of listing a comprehensive and satisfying top ten. that's tough something awful. i *will* however, give MY top ten AMERICAN movies of the 00's. I haven't seen nearly enough foreign films to attempt inclusion of those. anyway, so..
in no particular order...
the wrestler the life aquatic the man who wasn't there zodiac wet hot american summer brick synecdoche, ny the assassination of jesse james by the coward robert ford before the devil knows you're dead man on wire
ok, here are some non-American releases that I thought of and now want to include:
shaun of the dead irreversible lady vengeance the piano teacher
10. Pride and Prejudice 09. A History of Violence 08. Black Hawk Down 07. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang 06. Children of Men 05. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford 04. Minority Report 03. Kill Bill 02. Almost Famous 01. Love Actually
People have given me crap for my #1, but I don't care. No movie makes me as happy and is just as funny every time I re-watch it.
And I too, like the previous poster, haven't seen enough foreign films from this decade to really include any on my list.
Last Films Seen: The Lovely Bones (5/10) Up in the Air (9.5/10) Broken Embraces (10/10)
1.Gegen die Wand 2.Le fabuleux destin d´Amélie Poulain 3.The Wrestler 4.Requiem for a dream 5.Auf der anderen Seite 6.No Country For Old Men 7.Into the Wild 8.Vozvrashcheniye 9.Million Dollar Baby 10.Inglourious Basterds
Never understood the praise for that movie and it has quite a huge fan-base and among them lots of my friends. I don't know, i just never manage to connect to this movie. Watched it maybe twice after a good friend of mine recommended it to me and was rather disappointed for some reason. The idea was definitively there, but the execution wasn't. To each his own.

Yeah...I hated that movie. So *beep* preachy and what do you know the poor muslims are being persecuted. How and when is that going to happen? if you even mention being cafefull with adherents immigrating to the West your castigated by the powers that be and are lucky if you'll keep your job. There's nothing "brave" about taking an angle that is completely celebrated and will never be a detriment to your life or career. Now if you made a movie about white males being rounded up in a not so distant dystopic future now that would take balls...
In the paper today...tales of war and of waste But you turn right over to the T.V. page
Well, I do not knw why people give you crap about your # 1 choice, "Love Actually" is one of my favorite movie. I can rewatch it and still laugh, cry, and it makes me feel really happy.

i`m way over 10 films but couldn`t help myself sorry this is not in any particular order
Dogville?? Jesus. No, Van Trier i abandoned a long time ago. Dancer in the Dark is the best thing he'll ever be able to do and even this one was just a bit better than ok thanks to Björk. Some directors i just don't get and he is one of them. My humble opinion of course.

Dogville for sure is not for everyone - but I have to say his latest film Nymphomanic is close to cinematic perfection to me (but I enjoy the strange and unusual).
1. Donnie Darko... (I know its not perfect, but i have never felt the way i felt after watching it, It might not be the best, but it is my favorite) 2. Sunshine (again, I know not perfect, but it is fantastic) 3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 4. Avatar 5. Momento 6. Requiem for A Dream 7. Casino Royale 8. The Fountain 9. The Prestige 10. between TDK, Star Trek, The Hangover, and possibly Being John Malkovich although i dont remember if thats in the last 10 years or not...
