Why does Yvette say 'with stark regularity' ...

...with such stark regularity. Every introduction seems to include this meaningless phrase. "Regularity" can't be "stark". Whoever writes these dreadful intros (I suspect the ludicrous "historian" Leslie Smith) needs to get a thesaurus or learn how to write in good plain English, instead of trying to dress everything up in convuluted phraseology.

Because "frequently" isn't dramatic enough, I guess.

I've noticed years ago that British speakers AND writers are much more "wordy" than the other English users (Aussies, Americans, Canadians). I just roll my eyes. When someone isn't straightforward, I assume they're full of *beep* and/or love to hear themself speak. Unfortunately, a lot of Americans mistake this verbiage as proof of intelligence.

The English language is so full of diverse expressions and the joy felt at learning a new word/phrase is immense; but I do have Asperger's Syndrome, so learning new things and making connections gives me a sense purpose and structure and that my time is not being wasted. As you can tell, I am the sort of person who uses 10 words when one is sufficient, but it's a practical use of learning, so I don't really care!

I understand that they need to make things sound dramatic, but they could use different phrases that might be more appropriate like at regular intervals, in quick succession, recurrent, intermittent, etc...

Just trying to make the experience more varied.
