One question about the timeline

Both in the book and in the film, when the bodies of the two thugs are discovered, it is reported that they were killed 5 years ago. Maybe I'm not reading or hearing closely enough, but the math doesn't work for me, since the "killing" of Margot(or Elizabeth in the book)took place EIGHT years previously. Weren't they killed the same night?

I haven't read the book, but I thought in the movie they said "at least" five years ago. I could be wrong though.

But they made the weather and then they stand in the rain and say 'S***!, it's raining!'

Yes, the police said the 2 men were killed AT LEAST 5 years ago, so it could have been longer than that. Those were probably early reports, as soon as the bodies were discovered. Plus, the rate of decomposition can vary depending on many variables. The longer ago it happened, the more imprecise the results are. 8 years ago is longer than 5 year ago, so it does make sense.
