Bernard? What was their motive?

I don't understand what Bernard and his crew were trying to do.. yes they were looking for Margot but why were they so sure she was still alive and for what reason did they want her? In the beginning Bernard was eating diner with everyone so Im assuming they're all in close contact. I just don't understand that whole relationsip.

Yep, I agree with all of your questions. There are so many important plot points in this film that either dont make any rational sense, or strectch credibility.

Here`s another question

If Dueville really believed all these years that Margot was still alive, then surely he must also believe that Margots father helped her to disappear. How could Margot suddenly get hold of a dead body that looked axactly like her, set up a scene that framed a serial killer and the entire police force, and more importantly, fool her father into thinking she was dead?...and all of this in one night!!

"What was that, an exhibition?"

Neuville didn't really believe Margot was alive for the last 8 years, but to cover all bases, he kept surveillance on Margot's father and husband. I think that when the two bodies are discovered, Neuville turns up the surveillance and finds Margot's email on Alex's computer. Once the video is seen, he will stop at nothing to ensure that Margot is found and killed for what she did to his son.

Bernard and his crew worked for Neuville, who has had Margot's father and husband under scrutiny since the murder (probably because the henchman never returned. Once the two bodies are found, they probably ratchet up the surveillance and discover Margot's email on Alex's computer. They didn't really think she was alive until that point. After that, they wanted her at all costs!
