When skilled cinematographers make $hit movies

This was a gorgeously filmed piece of merde.

Overlong chase scene on foot "balanced" by overlong exposition on the part of the father...{{{UGH}}}..

And enough of such explicit violence toward women ~ the broken jaw, the bruised and lacerated face ~ literally gave me nightmares.

I hated it and the fact that anyone could call this entertainment is a sign of an end culture..

I think you mean "when skilled DIRECTORS make *beep* movies." Cinematography refers to the nature and quality of the moving images you see on the screen - what the lighting and equipment choices produce. Like still photography but for the cinema. Cinematography is not the art of making films as a whole; it's a sub-discipline of the art.

but he's right, that chase scene needed a ferrari, some explosions, and at least one summer hit song playing as the soundtrack.

And Will Smith doing a cameo appearance.

What I'm citing by juxtaposing the overlong chase scene with the congested overlong exposition is that the whole plot was poorly plotted. And depicting that kind of violence against women is reprehensible, NOT entertaining, unless one is sociopathic.

So wait violence against women is "reprehensible", does that mean you think violence against men in film is acceptable? So if say, the photographer had been a man you wouldn't have a problem with it?

I gather The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo must have sent you into a real tizzie.

I didn't think the chase scene was overlong, but I agree the dad's exposition was pretty long and made one of the classic mistakes of telling instead of showing. And just served to manipulate the audience. Made even worse because the dad's plan and conspiracy seemed completely unnecessary and more idiotic than tragic, unless the legal system is completely different in France. Not to mention all of the holes in the case that forensic evidence should've torn apart.
