Didn't understand something about Margot...

I think I may have misunderstood this part. Since she's been alive for 8 years what has she been doing those 8 years and where has she been living? Her father said that the only way to get her to go to Beunos Aires is if he tells her he's dead.. so doesn't that mean he told her he's dead only recently? What has she been thinking these past 8 years?

reply

She was living in Spain. They say so in the film.

Right after Margot's dad saved her near the lake he send her to Madrid convincing her that Beck is dead. But why she believed him, i don't know. She must be really stupid to believe that he happened to arrive at the lake right in time to save her. And they don't tell us what was she doing in Madrid for 8 yrs.

reply

Her dad convinced her that they would kill her if she didn't leave and go in hiding.

He was a cop and helped her cover up the murder of Philippe. It wouldn't be a stretch that he was watching her, surveilling her, knowing the danger she was in.
The guys who were originally paid to kill Margot were street thugs. Dad could have gotten a tip about it.

She was hiding in Madrid and other places.
I read the book, don't remember everything, but it was explained in greater detail.

I could not help but believe she played the field a few times. After all he was dead to her for the entire three quarters of the movie. I don't see how anyone can come together so easily after all this.

Not to mention that her father has just blown his head off, which would seem to put a damper on their reunion. I still enjoyed the movie, though.

Well they were crying weren't they? Then the film cut to their moments as innocent children. I thought it was to contrast that with their reunion which comes after everything that happened including her having shot someone and both of them having gone through so much pain.
