Not really getting the similarity.
Todd Solondz is very dark, dark comedy. There is an element of comedy in all his films which is why he's so controversial.

Yeah, I think that's a pretty superficial connection there.
However, when precious is described in basic terms, it sounds like it really should have been written and directed by Solondz and made into a biting black comedy, rather than some twatty sob story.
