Why's it called Palindromes??
I've never heard of the word Palindromes in my life til I watched this movie. But why is it called that? They could've called it Aviva after the main character, that would make more sense.

acriser15,
I love your typical midwestern RepuKKKelican type of reasoning:
"*I* have never heard of this word, so its stupid. Only really moronic, bigoted and judgemental will have that attitude.
It's called that, because whether you viewed the movie in normal order, or reverse, from back to front, the characters appear in the same order.

A palidrome is a word that mirrors itself so that it starts the same as it ends. Aviva is one, so is Bob, so is eye. As one character says towards the end, people don't change, you may think you have but really you'll end up just as the you started (like a palindrome). The actress changes every time Aviva thinks she's changed but no matter what happened to her, what she did, what she looked like, she would always be the same person and there was nothing she could do about it. There's another moment in the movie where the guy shouts out "how many more times can I be reborn?". It's kind of the point of the movie. People don't change, they end up the same as they started, hence the title.

brilliant!

the idea that Aviva, in the end, is "sure" she is going to be a mom this time, despite the fact that she is physically incapable of having children, just reinforces the idea that there has been no emotional or intellectual growth in the character over the course of her narrative, and despite all the physical changes we see in her, she is forced to remain the same naive child that she was at the beginning - hence, making the film a palindrome.
pretty sure it was explained in the movie.
