Palindromes or Welcome to the Dollhouse.
My vote is for Welcome to the Dollhouse, not that Dawn's situation was any worse than Aviva's...I just thought Dawn was so pitiful. Aviva was naive, but something about her seemed like she at least had an inner strength that Dawn DID not have.... Any time I watch Heather Mattarazzo in anything anymore I automatically sympathize with her character.
I completely agree! Welcome to the Dollhouse broke my heart!!! I didn't sympathise with Aviva as much as Dawn at all!she was a troubled girl definitely, but we didnt see her being bullied in school, we didnt see her mother being irrationally cruel to her and favouring her sibling, and Heather Mattarazzo had such a "bully-target" image that your heart just goes out to her, she tried so hard to be nice and stand up for herself!!! and i dont think i found the actresses changing in Palindromes as powerful as it is trying to be... i still thought it was a good movie, but my vote is for Welcome to the Dollhouse

Well, I think WTTD is much better film, better written, directed and acted. The character of Dawn is more tragic by far. Aviva just does what she wants to, nobody really abuses her in any way.
shareDefinitely Welcome To The Dollhouse, Aviva and Dawn were both very similar characters but very different at the same time. The main difference being that Aviva was clearly very loved and adored by almost everyone whilst Dawn was constantly treated badly and put down by almost everyone.
