Did any other Solondz fans just not like this one?
I loved Welcome to the Dollhouse, Happiness and Storytelling. But I could barely bring myself to finish this one. It might sound trivial but one of the main things that I hated about this movie was the score, as in the "La La La" *beep* I found it so contrived and utterly obnoxious. Then initially I was confused at who all these characters were that apparently had the same parents. When I found out they were all supposed to be Aviva, I figured I'd see where it went. But not only did I absolutely hate the character of Aviva, I found every actress playing her to be boring and completely unimpressive and honestly just hated having to watch them. I ended up with the feeling that this idea was pretty arbitrary and it made me think of what the director was trying to hide (ie unability to find a suitable actoress, or create a dynamic character) with this device. I think the story and the way it materialized on screen just bored me as well. I don't mean to just take a crap on this film, as I enjoyed Solondz other films. And I know this is just my humble opinion, but did anyone else find similar problems or am I alone on this assessment?
