I really didn't get it.

I was really lost from the start when I saw this for the 1st time. I guess it's one of those movies you really have to follow what's going on and give it a few watches. However, I gave it another watch or two and I picked up a few things I didn't get before but still I didn't completely know what was going on. To start off, what's up with the cover? When I 1st saw it I was like what is this? Why is there a big, black woman in a belly shirt and jeans walking through the woods? I don't get it! The main girl in the movie is called Aviva and from my understanding she wants to have a baby. Ok. The cover really doesn't tell me anything. Just weird. I just never did get why there were so many different Avivas. I'm guessing the director is showing different perspectives of Aviva in different bodies but with same clothing. I think they are all the same girl, have the same personality and want to be a mom. The young, white Avivas I could see that, but the big, black Aviva-that disturbed me in the 'mama sunshine' chapter. I really didn't get that one. That was really, really weird and strange. I also didn't get the different men in all the different chapters. Did they all know Aviva or what? The end was really confusing when we saw the black woman again, then one of the young Avivas and then a little black girl? I was like what? That's it, that's the movie?

This movie is a sequel to Welcome to the Dollhouse. If you have not seen that movie, there will be some references that you do not understand.

The aspect of the main actor changing also confused me. You are not the only one confused by that. I am guessing what they were trying to say is that the pain of self-discovery impacts all walks of life.
