Just Saw It Today

Okay, so I am a little behind the times. Anyways, my honest opinion is that this movie could have been so much more if someone other then Hilary Duff had played the main character. Nothing against Hilary Duff, she is good at what she does, but she is far from being an amazing female singer. Also I HATED the fact that she didn't actually sing in the movie. It is so obvious during her final performance with "Jay" that it is a recording. You could hear the back up singers (of which there where none on the stage) and so on. I just think it is a cop out to have a movie based entirely on the character singing and being a good singer, and then not actually have her sing. I think we got to hear her for 10 seconds maybe when they were at the open mike night, and that was it. Oh and maybe when "Paul" is making the DVD to send to the school, although I think parts of that were a recording as well. Even the end song was a recording. Which is all well and fine, but everyone sounds way better when they've recorded the song in a studio. It would have been nice to hear how she actually sounds when she's really just singing.
