Is there a movie with the same general idea as Raise Your Voice.
All I can remember is the girl sings Habanera but makes it more modern.
I watched Raise Your Voice the other day and I was trying to remember the same thing.
I'm pretty sure your thinking of the same one as me, which is Brave New Girl. It was a tv movie from the same year.
fame...centre stage...they're both kinda similar including the "angry black girl" who needs to sort her issues out before she can be good at whatever they are doing (singing/dancing)
They are both good films too

Denise is not an angry black girl. She's just a no-nonesense, focused and determined musician. She was there to win that scholarship and she just wanted to do what she had to to get it.
Besides, i think Denise was already awesomely talented from the start. Its why she won the scholarship.
P.S. Totally off the subject, i loved her violin solo. i kept skipping back to it because it sounded so awesome :D

OH MAN, I saw Camp Rock for the first time today...and I thought the same thing. It was basically a Disneyfied, incredibly cheesy, dumbed down version of it. Not bad, just...Disneyfied. I liked it, but it was DEFINITELY more kiddie/family friendly than Raise Your Voice. However, Raise Your Voice is WAAAAAAAY better. Demi Lovato in that movie really reminded me of Hilary Duff, too...I'm used to her playing Sonny on Sonny With A Chance, and it was a definite change. Anyway, watching Camp Rock made me want to watch Raise Your Voice so bad that I went out and rented it at 11 PM, haha.
As for the OP, I don't know. My first thought was Camp Rock as well, but I doubt it's what you were thinking of. -shrug-
