i think that it is so idiotic of people to think that haylie duff would be her voice double. i mean SERIOUSLY thats just ridiculous. it's hilary's voice, in a magazine she said she had a voice coach to help her with the notes. why would she sign on to do a movie like this if she couldn't sing? and how could she get a record deal if she couldn't sing? The only reason people say that its not her is beacuse they think she doesn't have the potentiol or the talent, but she does. It is not impossible for hilary duff to hit those notes or do a good job singing. can you imagaine her showing up on set and saying, "okay well i'm not a good enough singer for this so we need a voice double" I mean, please

reply

actually you're wrong. On all the parts where shes singing by herself in the classrooms....its haylie. True story.

reply

Nowa days, you dont really need to sing well to be famous....its called technology. And to answer the question " why would she sign on to do a movie like this if she couldn't sing?" -->$$$$$. More experience. Theres tons of reasons why she could have done this movie. She did have a voice double, that is SOOOO NOT her voice in the higher notes. Shes not a soprano.
Im not saying i dont like her, I do, and I think she did pretty good in this movie, i just dont think she should have been the one to do it.
I sing, and that is definitely a voice double. Its so obvious, it doesnt sound like her, and she doesnt sing soprano in any of her music shes not a soprano singer, and theres nothing wrong with that but its probably true, she had some help with this.

reply

also in the lizzie mcguire movie at the end when she sings there are some parts where her voice gets higher/deeper, and it doesn't really sound like her but it must be, because it sounds just like those parts in raise your voice

reply

It just doesn't sound like her. It would be like if Britney was singing and then it sounded like Christina and then went back to Britney. It doesn't sound like her. So either Hilary's voice met a computer and was edited to death or someone else is singing some of those notes.

reply

i always thought haylie had a better voice, you can tell in that one song they did together, "our lips are sealed."

reply

Not really. Haylie adn Hilary sound almost the same. Haylie can hit about half an octave higher than Hilary.

(To A.N.)I really, truly, madly, deeply, passionately, remarkably, deliciously love you.

What a STUPID thread -- another asinine attempt to discredit an extremely talented singer and actor.

Of course it's Hillary singing. There is plenty of documentation and footage of the making of this film -- how it was done and why it was done that way.

In fact, Hillary had to sing LESS than perfect (less than her best) for this movie and still sound very good -- she was portraying someone with a lot of potential but less training than she (Hillary) had in real life. She had to be/come across as a very good singer -- a diamond in the rough -- from the beginning, lacking formal training, and get better as a real student would.

And this is pretty much what came across. She certainly did NOT use a voice double. That's the most asinine lie / deliberate misinformation I've read in a long time.

To the original poster: Quit trying to play "in the know" and grow up. Accept your own inadequacies and deal with them. Hillary Duff had to play down her training but use her talent, and meticulously portray someone getting better in gradual increments. And she did it all from scratch, using her singing and acting ability, to convey this.

No matter what you spread, no matter what you wish to make others believe or what you wish were true because you want to be cool, actors and singers of Hillary's caliber are far beyond using voice doubles.

There ARE spots where it's obvious it's not her singing. The majority of it is, but there are tidbits here and there that aren't. You can sit here all day long and claim that it was 100% her, but it's not. I'm a HUGE Hilary fan, and I can own up to that fact. A good example is her "audition" for one of the solo parts in Mr. Torvald's class. It switches back and forth between Hilary and someone else. Hilary just has this nuance to her voice that is very distinct and detectable, and to me, the parts where it's not actually her voice are BLATANTLY obvious. It's almost cringe-worthy how obviously edited together they are.
