It would've been better if it had a different lead actress

Hilary Duff has a less than mediocre voice, let alone a good enough voice to get her into a school like that. Her brother said she has 'the best voice he'd ever heard', meaning he must have no idea what real talent sounds like! The whole point of the movie was about singing, and they couldn't even find a real singer to play the lead??
I still love Hilary but I just think she was the wrong choice. Does anyone agree?

reply

Agreed. It is blatantly obvious her voice was dubbed when talent was required. --But hey, if she had enough star power to be casted without the vocal training; she did damn good. I'm proud of her. Good job Hilary.

I think you are just jelous!

Yeah thats it.........lmao

i think it would have been better.....with a better script--i just can't see anyone else playing the lead character cuz Hilary duff is just imprinted in my brain for this part lol. But it annoyed me how bad the lip syncing was! jesus xD But Hilary is so likable & she was popular during that ara & so i guess that's why they cast her the lead you know? Maybe they could have given her voice lessons at least lol

Yeah, Evan Rachel Wood originally was supposed to have the part. She has an amazing voice. Hilary Duff has a decent voice, but the problem is that her character is supposed to have a very impressive voice that she was great enough to be able to attend that school. Hilary does not have an impressive range up to the point where I think her voice had to be dubbed by her sister in certain parts.

I think Hilary Duff was chosen because she was a very popular teen icon during the early 2000s and wanted to get rating and viewers.

reply

Yeah exactly whereas Evan Rachel Wood was doing more adult stuff like 13. But I still think she would have been a better choice. At least because of her voice.
