'Someone's Watching Over Me' should have won an Oscar

Aside from selfishly loving the hell out of the song, I heard it was short-listed (or just considered) for an Oscar nom, which thrilled me but didn't surprise me when I heard. But then... what the heck won instead of it? Some "acclaimed" movie, I imagine.
I mean seriously. The song works perfectly with the plot of the movie. Isn't that what it's all about? The Academy need to get off their high horses sometimes. They haven't awarded an oustanding song an Oscar since... My Heart Will Go On, from memory.

I really wasn't thrilled with the song. I think 'Once Upon A December' from Anastasia should have won and Oscar but it was overlooked for the hyped 'My Heart Will Go On'

Filthy victorians, they made me what I'm made of No H8

I absolutely love the song, too. Like you said, it fits the film perfectly and creates an opportunity for the character to heal after a difficult loss. As for an Oscar nom...that's kind of a stretch, given that it came from a teen movie and a Disney Channel actress/singer, but I still agree that it's beautiful, and I, for one, love hearing it over and over.

I liked the song but I wouldn't say it's deserving of an Oscar.

Hahahahaha! Don't make me laugh, Hilary Duff won't ever win an Oscar.

^^^ She didn't write it, so she wouldn't have. You don't think Celine Dion won an Oscar for Titanic, do you?
