is how they didn't make an effort to make some of the things from the book in the movie. sometimes movies based on books are ok, but this one was really far off in several ways. one personal thing that REALLY annoyed me was that cornbread cookie cutter kid that played the boy lola fell in love with. in the book he was a hardcore black guy with dredlocks who seemed totally awesome. why couldn't they find at least a black guy to play the boy?

these racist disney people...come on. the only black person in this movie was like carla's token friend. please.

Yes, they should have kept him the same!!!
But also, in movies based around black people, rarely do you see a white person.So I guess it's the same thing.

There IS a difference.A whole world of "eh's"and"oot and aboot"and"soorry"
difference.And moose!

The hole racist thing is so wrong. They do make show with black people. What is "That's so Raven" and "The Proud Family" Before you judge take a close look and think before you talk.

those shows actually help me prove my point exactly. "that's so raven" is ok, but the proud family is one big stereotyped mess of a show. take a look: the father has an unsuccessful failing job, the grandma is home all day in her pajamas sleeping and watching boxing, the girl talks back and has attitude, and they all speak in ibonics. why can't the show have the family act respectably, realistically, and educated???

Wait a sec, I read the book but I don't remember him being black. Dreadlocks I remember, but not him being black. I'm going to have to double check that.

And from what I remember a lot of the details of the book were thrown out of the window when they made the movie. It's BASED off of the book, it's not supposed to really do much other than loosely use the actual plot. If they didn't credit the book it would be considered a copyright infringement.
