never liked the demon designs.

I like the movie a lot but I have always kind of hated the demon designs for the movie.

I don't think they did a good job and the demons are not scary and they actually seem really really weak.

You have demons that are really thin and are missing half of their heads. Okay, without eyes how do they see? I know they wanted them to just follow their nose with smells but they still look kind of stupid.

There is just nothing really scary about a really skinny creature with no head. They looked dumb.

I Liked the way half breed demons looked a lot more. The ones with full heads. I wish the demons in Hell looked like that. I would have loved if they looked creepier.

the hell demons were pretty stupid designs

i would even be scared if some crazy person came up to me alone at night

that's not the point. the point i was making is that these demons look too fragile, they looked weak.

the lack of eye or a head for that matter made them look like a wounded animal that needs care.

even if the demons had a skull and noneyes but just empty sockets they would have been scary. like the xenomorphs from alien.

i love the bailey jay avatar by the way :)

right....

I loved those things!

Kind of like an anorexic Gollum, after a gun shot wound to the skull.

They were creepy, imaginative and hilarious.

The half breeds were just in human form were they not?

well half breeds had faces. so they were scary.

the more I think about it, I guess it is the fact that they are missing half of their face. It kind of makes me feel sad for them, feel sorry for them that they don't have any eyes or a brain.

but not scary. they felt too weak for me, no head, no eyes, no brain, super skinny,

And gollum is not scary either, he is a tragic character, a sad character lol.

I didn't find the human looking half-breeds scary. They just looked like Gavin Rossdale and Tilda Swinton (who I admit isn't the most conventionally beautiful woman on earth, but I wouldn't go so far as to suggest that her face would scare the village children...)

I wasn't saying that because the demons looked like Gollum, it made them scary. I was just drawing a comparison to his appearance.

But I do understand what you're saying. You wanted to be frightened by those demons and you weren't, so it was disappointing for you. I wasn't actually frightened by them either but I still enjoyed them and thought them a clever design. The only thing in the movie that did scare me was that girl in the beginning who was crawling on the ceiling *shudder*

is not even about being frightened but they didn't seem like they could put up a fight.

it felt like Constantine could just wrap some bible pages on a baseball bat and he could take all of the demons out because of how weak and thing they were lol.

I don't know, I totally agree about the girl in the ceiling. THAT was creepy. Mammon was creepy, Balthazar was creepy

the creepiest one was the old lady in the bus when Constantine was a kid.

I know what you mean, but at least they looked positively disgusting.

It also kind of plays into my idea of evil: It is born of weakness (emotional weakness, fear to do the right thing, apathy, inability to forgive others or yourself). In that way weak, miserable beings are always suspect to be most evil.

In that way, the design is actually somewhat "innovative". Instead of the usual bad ass big super scary monsters, these demons invoke disgust and a righteous fury of the god loving man to smite them down. Well besides being scary if you don't happen to have a holy hand grenade with you.
