Here is a free idea from my end unless someone wants a charge.

First of all this idea is based on the premise that ellie is central to explaining that the guy at the end of the movie is the devil and that is so important to the story that if she is put back in, it can be cut down to 80 minutes, be more intense and make sense. Now cut it down to 80 minutes or less with ellie in and have the director turn it into a music video like a modern day wall. preferably pick an album that is suitable, possibly like a heavy metal or classical vibe type music, something that would be suitable, whatever the director wants...
