didn't make the same mistake twice? What mistake was he referring to that he made before?

That he committed suicide

He only actually committed suicide once (as a teen)...I think the current time did not really count (he did not want to die)....he used the act of slicing his wrists to lure Lucifer to Earth so he could stop his son.
