One of the best fantasy movies of all time (SPOILERS!)

I really don't get the bashing by Hellblazer fans here. This movie is GREAT. Yes it takes liberties but I can watch this movie over and over. I actually started reading the comics after this and I think it's faithful to the source material. Constantine is a bad ass tragic hero who smokes and overall is a prick. Yes he's American and not a Brit. Boo hoo. The movie has a great atmosphere and many ideas and jokes. Hell and heaven as a "parallel world" is awesome. The whole story arc with conning Lucifer is bad ass (the way he does it is even genuine from the comics!). The dialog is very funny and works well too. There are SO MANY GREAT CINEMATOGRAPHIC SCENES in this movie that are really cool!

* Car crash
* Exorcism of the girl scene and mirror crash
* Roof jumping scene
* Lights out and winged scavenger demon burning
* Constantine's visit to hell
* Pull chase through he elevator
* Pappa midnight's shirt ruining scene
* Surfing the chair
* Shredding through a horde of half-breeds with the MG shotgun
* The exorcism scene with Rachel Weisz and the following death of Kramer
* Pulling Gabriel out of the Shadows total bad ass imho!
* The de-winging of Gabriel and water spout out of a pool
* "Lou's" entrance when Constantine's clock runs out - red with blood

Why are people whining about this movie? Imho this is 10/10 and could hardly be done better.

Comic fans are notoriously hard to please. :) But in all fairness, even the non-comic fans seem to be disappointed with everything from the movie's story to the effects. I think it is much better than it gets credit for.

I loved it and like to re-watch it every now and then.

Yeah me too. Besides lord of the rings and some others it's one of the few movies I actually can stand to rewatch. Rachel Weisz definitely helps too!
