Sure both movies are about a dysfunktional family lead by a misunderstood father going on a road trip from hell somewhere far, far away but Vacation isn't the only movie to use that plot line. It's been done a lot. RV and The Great Outdoors are a couple of examples.

I don't really think of the Griswolds as dysfunctional. Clark is just a kook. Whatever, Vacation and Christmas Vacation are comedic classics.
