I'm thankful that this didn't come out in Theaters. This did Steven a big favor, Jebus give him a fighting chance this movie was crap, he had almost no fight scenes. Ugh.

Look, I just saw the trailer and it looks great ! Very slick, modern Japan meets old school warrior aka Steven Seagal ! For all you naysayers out there, give Steven a break ! He looks like he's back to his bad self here, walking in and taking control of the situation. This may be direct to DVD but that's the studio's bad decision. This one deserves a theatrical release. In the trailer, Steven performs one of his patented Aikido moves, kotaegashi, an outward wrist lock/throw. This is just an example of what first attracted movie audiences to his martial art. I'm telling all of you, this one is gonna be a hit ! For all of you who say that Seagal is too old and fat, well give him a break. It's not easy being in your fifties and doing the kinda stuff he does. How many of you critics out there are legitimate 7th degree black belts in anything ??? I rest my case !

7th degree, that is respectable, and impressive. He is no great actor though. Perhaps he should make movies in the vein of Bruce Lee, start teaching something to the populace instead of boring us with been-done bullsh*t.

Get real? Okay let's do just that. Seagal's movies all seem to be a rehash of the same old idea, and it's a tired idea, a bad plot, bad script, bad director, bad everything. Ive told Seagal myself, and with much respect, he can make better movies, if he just got better directors, better scripts, he could make great movies, and still not lose the fun aspect, the entertainment value. I'm still waiting for Seagal to make a movie I truly love, and again like I told Seagal, with much love and respect, I know he has it in him, we just haven't seen it yet.

Cuba Gooding Jr is one actor who has alot of versatility. Comedies, dramas, thrillers, etc. Cary Grant was another very versatile actor. Theyre out there, so dont discount them just because theyre rare. I wont discount action stars for being good at what they do, I just get tired of unoriginality in scripts, and lack of flexibility in actors.

Well, I can name quite a few actors who are great cross-genre and who are excellent in all of them.

Michael Keaton
Cuba Gooding, Jr.
Bruce Willis
Patricia Arquette
Anthony Hopkins
Mel Gibson (although I hate him in the scifi genre) he is excellent in family movies, drama, and action

to name a few

Very few actors are excellent in everything. That's just the way it goes. Just as you, me, anyone are not instantly perfect at everything they do... your statement is rather unfair. Anyways the post is about actors who cross genre, not who are perfect. Now I might love everything one particular does, and go so far as to name all their works as exceptional, but it would only be my opinion, so again, objectively this thread was about actors who do cross genres.

All the actors I can think of who constantly skip from genre to genre only do so because they're not particularly great in any one of them.

That is an opinion based on your subjective perceptions, there is no way you can generalize so broadly and suggest any facts are involved, unless you can handle opposite opinions backed by contrary subjective input, which I have done, so you can shoot down whether some of Bruce Willis' movies are any good, but you cannot deny that he has worked in a myriad of genres, nor that some people might find many of them entertaining and somewhat successful.

SO HA!
