It's a weird one. It's a Bob Dylan biopic, but it's never historical. Nobody's named Bob Dylan. It's non-linear. It's weird. About seven different people play facets of Bob (among them Cate). In other words: it's the perfect, poetic version of a biopic to make about somebody like Bob Dylan.
shareI am not really a fan of music bios - I can admire the performances but am seldom engaged, and they mostly tend to follow the same general rags to riches structure with added domestic strife scenes, blah blah.
An exception is Coal Miner's Daughter - I'm not a country music fan but that is an excellent film, and Sissy Spacek's performance as Loretta Lynn - convincingly playing her from her teens to her thirties - is superb.
I've never seen this one, I'll look out for it
