I remember reading somewhere that this was cutting close to an R rating.

I don't get that. I thought it was very mildly inappropriate. Besides the erection scene and a few inappropriate remarks (smelly pirate hooker, go back to your home on whore island), I can see it being a PG-13 rated movie. and on Common sense it says iffy for 15. Are you kidding me?

I think the idea that kicking a dog off a bridge and into a river AS A GAG is pretty deplorable stuff.
