Seems like that list has some right.. and some wrong. How is Clueless on there over say, Terminator 2? Napoleon Dynamite? Maybe for a year, until everyone stopped caring. A bunch of classics on that list that deserve to be there though, along with my definite top 2. Funny enough I came to the Anchorman IMDb to make sure I had a bunch of quotes I was using right; turns out I did, then I found this thread. I do think Anchorman should be #1, but Big Lebowski is definitely the better film, so I understand
By the way, I'm not slamming you at all. I realize this was a Time Magazine list. Just had to voice my disagreement.
I really do have love to give, I just don't know where to put it
All wrong, Withnail and I is the most quoted film ever. Or most quotable film i should say.
shareNever even heard of it.
shareWithnail And I...
'Free to those that can afford it, very expensive to those that can't.'
'All right, this is the plan. We get in there and get wrecked, then we'll eat a pork pie, then we'll drop a couple of Surmontil-50's each. That means we'll miss out Monday but come up smiling Tuesday morning.'
'I feel like a pig shat in my head'
'Scrubbaaaass ~!~' - 'Up yours grandad ~!~'
'Oh God. My heart's beating like a f$cked clock! I feel dreadful, I feel really dreadful!'
'So do I, so does everybody. Look at my tongue, it's wearing a yellow sock. Sit down for Christ's sake, what's the matter with you? Eat some sugar.'
'I don't advise a haircut, man. All hairdressers are in the employment of the government. Hairs are your aerials. They pick up signals from the cosmos, and transmit them directly into the brain. This is the reason bald-headed men are uptight.'
Monty: Do you like vegetables? I've always been fond of root crops but I only started to grow last summer. I happen to think the cauliflower more beautiful than the rose. Do you grow?
Withnail: Geraniums.
Monty: Oh, you little traitors. I think the carrot infinitely more fascinating than the geranium. The carrot has mystery. Flowers are essentially tarts. Prostitutes for the bees. There is, you'll agree, a certain 'je ne sais quoi' oh so very special about a firm, young carrot.

GET IN THE BACK OF THE VAN!!
shareSurprised Mean Girls isn't there. To this day, I can still expect some to say a Mean Girl quote every other day.
time is making fools of us again ..

Interesting list. I wonder how they rated them. Just office opinion maybe? Must say I'm surprised Airplane didn't make it. Some of the lines in that are so well known it's like they're part of everyone's subconscious now. Try using the word "surely" within a question without causing someone's eyebrows to raise in private amusement...
If we're talking Ferrell films, I'd ay Old School is almost on a par with Anchorman, quote-wise!
Airplane and Blazing Saddles should have made the list.
Goblin Cannonball: I hit something! Yes?!? No?!?
Withnail & I is on a whole other level and arguably the most heavily-quoted film in England. I did think that the writing in Anchorman was, in certain parts, of a similar style. However, the treatment of the material by the actors is very different. You will either find it half as funny or twice as funny as Anchorman.
shareThink Fear and loathing in Las Vegas and Pulp Fiction deserves to be on there.
shareInteresting collection of films. Why is it I've never heard of Glengarry much less seen it? Gone With the Wind was a huge quote film too, Airplane!, Princess Bride, a few others.
shareI always think of Casablanca as the most quotable film... I would put quite a few above Anchorman, like all the (original)Star Wars and Monty Python films.
shareComedies are always the most quoted movies and Caddyshack, Blazing Saddles, and Airplane have to be at the top of them all.
"Nananananana!!"
"Mongo only pawn in game of life."
"I am serious and don't call me Shirley."
Make him an offer he can't refuse.
shareAirplane! and Blazing Saddles, definitely.I would add Fargo and Young Frankenstein.
Get me a bromide! And put some gin in it!
For the most part, the best movies have the best dialogue. Whatever films you like will probably be quotable.
Some personal favourites:
The Blues Brothers (e.g., "Got my Cheez Wiz™, boy?"; "SCMODS");
Mad Max (e.g., "He's in a coma, man!"; "Goes to water on a dummy");
Dirty Harry (e.g., "I gots to know"; "I'm all broken up about that man's rights").
Caddyshack should be in top 10 quotable

Although i'm a big fan (and often quote on a daily basis) Anchorman, Zoolander, Withnail & I and Life Of Brian; if you haven't see Chris Morris' Four Lions you really need to.
Rubber dinghy rapids bro!
I will now present to you the 10 most quotable films for Americans, and by that I mean the films whose quips have permeated the collective subconcious(of America) and have thus become situational norms of our language.

3. Terminator 1&2 (ill be back, hasta la vista baby, come with me if you want to live, chill out d***weed)
4. Casablanca ( heres looking at you kid, of all the gin joints in all the world she had to walk into mine, this looks like the begining of a beautiful friendship)
5. The Wizard of Oz (were not in Kansas anymore, theres no place like home, im melting im melting)
6. Caddyshack (its in the hole its in the hole, youll get nothing and youll like it, be the ball)

10. Dumb and Dumber (so youre saying theres a chance, find a happy place find a happy place, kick his a** Seabass)
You really are entertaining me Mr. Stranger.
What's the most quoteable movie ever will of course be very subjective, as (naturally) different people find different things quoteable. For instance I didn't find this movie quoteable at all, perhaps except ''I love lamp'' and ''Take me to Pleasure Town'' which I've seen quoted a few times. Honestly, I can't really remember people quoting this movie all that much for it to make a top 10 quoteable list. It's not old enough either. I would say a minimum of 20 years before a film can be eligible.
My list based on personal experience, reading books, watching a ton of movies and TV-shows and playing videogames:
1. The Wizard of Oz. Old as hell, but still quoted in practically every medium available. Stargate SG-1 alone had at least a reference a season, and it's probably the one I can remember being quoted in TV/film/videogames the most. ''"Toto, I've got a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore." The ''referenced in'' section on imdb is a mile long.
2. Star Wars. Obvious one, and would be number one if it had been older. ''May the Force be with you''.
3. Casablanca. The fact that it's still quoted that much after 70 years says it all. Personally I've never used a quote from the movie, but it's without a doubt one of the most frequently quoted movies in history. ''We'll always have Paris...''
4. Monty Python and the Holy Grail. A bit of an acquired taste as a movie, but endlessly quoteable and a veritable part of pop culture. ''Behold...The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch!'' (as seen on Worms)
5. The Terminator. ''I'll be back.'' 'Nuff said.
6. Gone with the Wind. Never quoted this one either, but like Oz and Casa it's a no-brainer on a list like this because of it's age alone. Also topped the AFI top 100 quotes list: ''Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!''
7. The Godfather. Unassilable classic status, despite the fact that many find it very overrated. ''I'll make him an offer he can't refuse''
8. Jerry Maguire. Would be higher if it was older. ''You had me at hello!''
9. Ghostbusters. Lots of classic lines, and still quoted frequently.
10. Austin Powers. Funny and often quoted movie. ''One million dollars!''
Honorable Mentions:
Airplane
Apocalypse Now
The Princess Bride
--
Besides the ones already quoted (I think Airplane has to be the champ, surely), I'd throw in Heathers and Office Space.
edit: This is Spinal Tap.
You want some ice cream, in case there are no gay people there?
The Crow, Fight Club and Half Baked are the most quotable movies ever for me. Will Ferrell's most quotable movie ever has to be Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby!
shareHa, Anchorman is indeed kinda funny, but most quoted movie ever? Hell no. Its not even in my top 50. The only line I ever quote from this movie is "It smells like a diaper full of indian food" and thats about it. HERE are some truly quotably films:
Airplane!
Ghostbusters
Back To The Future
Evil Dead 2
Army Of Darkness
Tremors
JC's The Thing
Ace Ventura
Planes, Trains, & Automobiles
Wizards Of Oz
Casablanca
The only thing I remember about celestial Spider-Man is that he's...celestial. - Bruce Campbell

Was watching it with my wife and dogs (they like Baxter) for the first time and found ourselves ROTFLOAO. Our daughter coming into the room to see what the commotion was about, immediately sat down and simultaneously started reciting lines of the characters as they came up on the screen.
So would have to agree that it is a very frequently quoted film.
Well, I could be wrong, but I believe diversity is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.
