I really hate it when people say...

I love huckabees instead of I heart huckabees, its probably been brought up before but uugh it really gets to me. I was in HMV yesterday and even the staff were saying I love huckabees(it was on sale for 4.99 so if you spent over 30euro you could chose a 4.99 movie for free, and they just kept saying i'm paraphrasing here "you've spent over 30 euro you can now chose anyone of these dvds from our 4.99 range for free, there's never been kissed, braveheart, I LOVE HUCKABEES, the wind that shakes the barley......" so ya it really bugged me

Veronica:If everyone jumped off a bridge, would you?
Heather McNamara:Probably

They're saying that because that's the title of the movie. When it's listed in here (or in any record such as a store or library) as "I Heart Huckabees" it's because the heart symbol is being used in the title has to be defined on the inventory record as such so that people can find the proper movie, but the movie isn't called "I Heart Huckabees". The heart symbol in a title or statement means "love". It's just a cute way of writing "love". Heart is not a verb. You can't "heart" anything.

Then you probably should read the "Additional Details" Section where it says...

Also Known As: I Love Huckabee's (USA) (working title)

Sorry to burst your bubble but I thought you should know.

Actually this thread should have been closed after this remark

The sound of a kiss is not as loud as a cannon's, but its echo lasts longer

Ah, but language is always changing. This usage is beginning to work its way into dictionaries -- witness the definition of "heart" at www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/heart?view=us:

verb
[with object] informal
like very much; love: I totally heart this song [from use of the symbol , first popularized by the ‘I NY’ advertising campaign of the late 1970s]

Considering the device of using a heart in lieu of the word "love" has been in use FAR longer than the existence of this film (ask any New Yorker what those license plates mean) *and* the distributor itself screwed up the name in so many promotional outlets I can't blame folks for getting confused.

I know what movie they mean either way. No biggie.

BRAVEHEART FOR 4.99?!?!?

Its not "Braveheart".....It's "BRAVELOVE"!!!!!

Get it straight!

HAHAHAHAHA Epic logic FAIL.

I REALLY HATE IT when people make a big deal out of simple things just to feel superior to others. What about all the "I ♥ NY" signs? Do you ever hear anyone saying "I heart NY". Case Closed, go back to hating needless things.

P.S. here are some useful things to hate: Hunger, Abuse, Violence, Poverty, Hate etc etc

It's 'I Huckabees'. That is the title. If you are putting it into words you will get different versions. The title is just a quirky nod to post-modernism and all its talk of signs and indeterminate meaning, etc..

The fact you are arguing about it is kind of the point. It's 'I love Huckabees' in the sense of that's what we mean when we use the heart symbol. It's 'I heart Huckabees' if you are trying to represent the actual title in words.

I agree with the O.P. The reason for this is primarily because I've always referred to it as 'I Heart Huckabees'. For this reason alone it always seems odd and wrong to me when people say Love instead of Heart. I Heart Huckabees sounds better too.

By the way, 50% of the people that replied to this post are douchers. I know its IMDB, but come on people. There's no need for your bitter, "I know everything", responses. Everything on here is opinion. I will always call this movie 'I Heart Huckabees' and I'm sure many other people will too. Grow up you brood of naysayers!

I have only ever known this movie as "I Heart Huckabees". When it played at my local cinema ages ago, it was "I Heart Huckabees". I don't understand all the controversy??!
