In all likelihood the Fighter film was just some hack work they did for the studio, and this was the film they've been eager to make. Intent seldom matches results sometimes.
I've never seen fighter, so I couldn't comment on that, but it seems that your expectations of this film were soured because it didn't seem to match with your experience of Fighter. Isn't that a bit unfair to this film, criticising it because it's not another film? I mean, did you watch it with the idea it would be?
Actors and directors are only as good as the story and script they're doing at the time. Some add to the films and other detract, If you've ever seen a film called McCarthur, even Lawrence Olivier in the title role couldn't save it! And "hack work" is dependent upon an actor's or director's opnion as well. Apparently Alec Guiness thought his role as Obi Wan was that, and yet it's what he's now remembered for.
I'm an existentialist? How am I miserable when I'm commenting on you not liking a film? I liked it, and was happy to do so.
that film was out years befor ethe fighter, which i just saw yesterday, so my not liking it couldn't possibly have been related to the fighter in any way
did you mean mccarthur or macarthur? i know the one with g peck. dont know the other one.
actors and irestors are.... yeah i guess so. btu as a defender of huckabees, you sure dont seem to know much about it. read over your compadres' posts here and that may clue you in
i mentioned existentialism because you are an advocate of this film and that is what it purportedly represents. duh.
but you seem like a nice lady so i call a truce, waddya say. wanna go have coffee?

----------------------------------- "Where.... can I put my ash?"
The film's really a screwball comedy - someone else described it as "Buddhist" and it's closer to that than Existentialist. Existentialism's being critiqued and made fun of, rather than supported.

Pay the airfare for the trip to the USA and you're on. Fighter probably hasn't reached Australia yet. I like Christian Bale but I doubt I'll see it until it gets to a public library.
I made a mistake. I mean of course INCHON (see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084132/combined) which was financed by the Rev. Moon with suitcases of $$$. It would be interesting to watch INCHON after the Gregory Peck version! ;)
I bet you feel like a complete douche for getting so angry and acting disrespectfully to Laura for no other reason than not agreeing with you about a movie. To her credit, she reacted with class and restraint. Hopefull you learned something from this and will think before you type.
