Question about the mom. POSSIBLE SPOILERS?!
I just watched this film, and it ended with the pic of mommie dearest pregnant with one of the kids.
Did the mom die before the end of the film?
Near the end of the movie it is revealed Cybil had a mastectomy which implies she had breast cancer and when she's talking to Everett she says something along the lines that she doesn't have long meaning it's back. So throughout the movie each kid has a touching moment with mom (except Amy and Thad for some reason) which implies they know she doesn't have long. After everything it jumps to Next Christmas starting out exactly like the beginning of the movie except it shows Thad and Patrick with their baby. They go inside and everyone is gathered around the tree (you hear Everett and Julie show up later) and it ends with a close up of the picture Meredith frames for the family the previous year.

The more I watch the film, the more the last several minutes really kick me in the heart. share

Amy's moment is when they share the connection that it is actually her inside Sybil's tummy... And Thad's is at the table when she throws the fork and tells him he's more normal than any other *beep* at this table. In my opinion. :) amazing movie!
